What YOU can do

Write

Letter writing is effective. Remember that the original West London Tram scheme involved closing the Uxbridge Road at Acton and Ealing Broadway, but following wide-ranging public opposition Transport for London found alternatives and the latest proposals now have the West London Tram sharing the road with traffic in these town centres. The plan to build a new road across Haven Green was also dropped because of community opposition. So don't think your voice won't make a difference - the more people who say what they think about the deficiencies of the West London Tram scheme, the more likely we are to get a transport service that will suit the community.

In particular, remember that May 2006 brings elections for the three London Boroughs on the route of the proposed West London Tram. It's worth telling your local councillor what you think about the scheme.

Follow these links to find the names of people to write to, and their addresses. Do write to the press and to community websites too - the more publicly we make our point, the better.

Neighbourhood groups

West Ealing action team

The West Ealing action team set up to oppose the closure of the Uxbridge Road in West Ealing has formed a Yahoo group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/westealingneighbours

Everyone is welcome to join, the purpose is to share thoughts, ideas of who to write to, co-ordinate a writing campaign, and make sure movers and shakers know that West Ealing isn't asleep about this issue.
